A look back at the past preserves the mission on which GPEN was founded. The ‘Soesterberg’ document forms the basis for the establishment of GPEN and lays the groundwork for GPEN to flourish.

GPEN’s work is shaped by the constant change that is deeply affecting our society. Amidst this constant change, new challenges are emerging for GPEN. GPEN sees these challenges as opportunities to develop and to fulfil its mission of enabling Protestant education to flourish worldwide. The position paper ‘The Future of GPEN’ charts the path towards this future and invites interested parties to engage with the work of GPEN.

From November 5 until November 10, 2023, around 100 education officials and teachers from the GPEN met in Koforidua, Ghana, at a conference to discuss issues of digitality in protestant education. The theses below were developed in workshops during the conference and reflect the different perspectives of the participants.

The digital handbook “Experiencing Peace and Conflict with Pupils!” supports teachers in addressing peace education using digital tools The sections provide in-depth information and supplementary materials on peace education, peace, religion and worldview, and digitalisation.

We are open to disseminate in this place more content and tools that are relevant for those involved in Protestant education around the globe. If you have any suggestions, you are most welcome to contact us.
